Without doubt, this is the best spot to watch the sun set over the rooftops of Lucca!

Located on the first floor (above ground - second floor American style) of a 17th century building in the heart of Lucca's historic centre, Apartment Fosso consists of a huge bedroom, a very large sitting room (both with access onto the amazing terrace), a brand new bathroom and a large, eat-in kitchen.  The key feature of this apartment, however, is the massive terrace.

Only 14 steps lead to a small entrance hall of this light filled apartment.  Off to the right is a very spacious kitchen (newly installed in 2010) with a comfortable dining suite.  There are three large windows taking up two sides of the room, flooding it with sunlight, especially in the mornings.

Off to the left of the entrance hall is a very large sitting room with access to the bedroom and bathroom and most importantly to the terrace.  The sitting room has a very comfortable (new) sofa-bed and some antique armchairs.  The walls are tastefully adorned with original artworks collected at Lucca's monthly antique market.

The bedroom has a king sized bed (new orthopedic mattress and base) as well as plenty of storage / cupboards.  This room also features an amazing, original frescoed ceiling.  The bedroom, sitting room and kitchen all feature beautiful decorative tessilated tiles.

The bathroom is new (completely renovated in April 2011) and has a shower, toilet, bidet and washbasin..

The terrace is more than 30 sq metres and is open on two side.  It is bathed in sunshine from lunchtime onwards and is oriented toward the west, so there is an incredible vista of the setting sun over the rooftops.  The terrace has several olive trees in traditional terracotta pots along with colourful annuals and a host of herbs for the budding chefs.  There is a glass topped outdoor table and seating for six as well as a couple of sun lounges for soaking up the Tuscan Sun.  The terrace overlooks a massive courtyard garden.

 

Apartment Fosso is located in via del Fosso which is a very quiet street which has the original canal that used to be outside the first set of city walls.  The third (and current mediaeval) set of city walls enclosed this part of the city.  There is paid public parking within a one minutes walk of the apartment. Destination Lucca has a space in this underground, secure car park available at the rate of 20 Euro per week.
